MEET THE PREACHERS

CHRIS MACHAMER

PASTOR

Chris Machamer's family attended Grace Cathedral before he was born, and he was raised attending church. As he grew, he never learned to stand or walk like other children; and his parents realized he had a problem with his right leg. They took him to Rev. Angley for prayer; and immediately, he began to walk. He has never had trouble with his leg again. As a teenager, he strayed away from the teachings he had received at church; and he started abusing drugs and alcohol. He graduated from college and became an accountant. Chris finally returned to the Lord when he was in his twenties. He accepted Jesus as his Savior and received deliverance from all his addictions. Later, he received an unexpected call from the Lord to preach the Gospel, so he put his plans aside and answered that call. He became an ordained minister and began serving as a pastor at Grace Cathedral in 1996. Since then, he has traveled to many countries where he has preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ in churches, schools and prisons. Rev. Chris and his wife, Maria, have been married for over 17 years.

STEVE MILLAR

PASTOR

Steve Millar graduated from The University of Akron with a business degree in marketing. After college, he moved to Cuyahoga Falls where he met his future wife, Cathy. Two years into their marriage, Cathy began attending services at Grace Cathedral and serving the Lord. Steve saw a definite change in her life.

Steve grew up in a loving home but was not taught much about God. He lived his life thinking that as long as he was a good person and believed in Jesus, he would one day go to Heaven when he died. Steve was not taught that you must be born again and live free from sin. His wife gave him a book written by Rev. Angley which opened his eyes to the truth of God’s Word. When he finished that book, he wanted to read more books that Rev. Angley had written. One day when he was reading one of the books, Holy Ghost conviction fell upon him; and he gave his heart to the Lord. Not long after that, he went on to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost and then was called by God to be His minister.

Steve was ordained to become a minister in 2008. Since then, he has traveled to many countries where he has preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ in churches, schools and prisons. He has been married to his wife, Cathy, for over 28 years, and they enjoy serving the Lord together and winning souls for Jesus.

ERNEST ANGLEY
1921-2021

FOUNDING PASTOR

Ernest Angley was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost when he was 18; and soon after, he began preaching. He attended Bible College; and during his breaks, he began traveling as an evangelist. He continued traveling after he graduated, and his wife, Angel, joined him on the road after they were married. They came to Akron, Ohio, in June of 1954, and their first service was in a tent. At the end of that summer, the Lord moved on them to stay and start a church. They rented a local theatre for the winter and then built a temporary tabernacle where they held services while building a permanent church. Grace Cathedral in Akron opened in 1957. Angel served with her husband at the church until she went to Heaven in December 1970. Rev. Angley moved the primary church services to Grace Cathedral in Cuyahoga Falls in 1994. Rev. Angley’s goal was to reach as many souls as possible for Jesus. He continued his pastoral and evangelistic duties until taking a leave of absence in 2019. Rev. Angley went to Heaven to be with his Lord and Master at 99 on May 7, 2021.

OUR BELIEFS

What we believe at Grace Cathedral

"One of the reasons I come to Grace Cathedral is because of the messages. No matter the topic, there’s always something in them that I can apply to my life. They help me learn, grow and gain a closer relationship with the good Lord."
